How does a family cope with an incurable disease?

This is our story, the French family, and the journey we took together as we were faced with the unexpected news of Lou Gehrig’s Disease or better known as A.L.S.

Tom French, a devoted husband, piano player extraordinaire, and meticulous plastic surgeon, had high hopes for his career and his family until he was diagnosed with A.L.S. A.L.S. is completely debilitating, ultimately causing one to live life on a ventilator, and in most cases leads to death. This disease was the French family’s “beast.”

This book is our story of love that could not be conquered by a disease. It is how our family endured, grew, and continued to press forward despite all the challenges we faced. We hope that in some small way, it will help encourage, inspire, and provide strength for any family that may be facing their own “beast.”

This is our love story and a unique perspective of our timeline and the next chapters in our lives. The journey isn’t over and we hope to raise awareness, strengthen families, and through our story ease some of the fears anyone would face in such circumstances.

Love wins in the end and what set to destroy us only made us stronger.
