After a traumatic event, a couple take in her best friend’s children while fighting to open a center that teaches young, black males to be men, unify dollars and buy back the blocks they came of age on. Along the way they encounter Uncle Tom leadership, closest racists, a broken school system, racially motivated death threats, and haters who want to see their demise. After years of struggle, they find they are not only fighting for freedom, but also for their lives.
Are the children too corrupted to be saved? Will their mother be anything other than an addict? What happens when a man who is a cross between Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, is marked for death? Can our neighborhoods be saved? Can our people come together? Will we ever truly be free?
These questions and more are answered in Riding for the Babies, a look at strong, independent people trying to save their community, their children, and themselves.
